LX Heater won't turn on

The other day I recieved an E-Mail from John, a customer who called me a Genius!     Now that felt good.

They were having a problem with their Jandy LX heater, "Not going on". They called a repair techinican from a national service company out to diagnose the problem. The technican troubledshot the LX 400 heater and determined it was the GUI board R0329600.

Well since this board is very expensive they were concerned if the tech was correct and asked my opion, this is what I wrote back to John.

There could be another or different problem with your LX heater, that your service man may be over looking. We find that sometimes we have voltage at the right places and it looks like the culprit is the thermostat GUI board. However the pressure switch could be leaking internally and when this happends it shorts out the heater's controls and the heater won't fire up. So this is easy, remove the door and slide the upper panel down that's up above the door. That exposes the controls, the pressure switch is connected to tubing and is round shape with two wires comming out from it. Remove the two wires and take a short piece of wire and connect it to the wires. Turn your pump on and see if that makes the heater fire up.

John wrote back: You are a Genius. it worked!!!! I knew that it didn't seem right that the temp control mechanism was faulty. Now should I replace the pressure switch R0013200 or can I bypass it!

Well, I guess you know what my responce was.  "You need to replace this pressure switch now or replace the heater when it doesn't shut off and burns up".
